How We Work in Partnership with GCVS
As a social enterprise with a commitment to making Scotland a better place to live and work, with a more inclusive economy, CEIS has always been focussed on providing support to other Third Sector organisations. With our Glasgow base we have strong links to the city and our principal work is in supporting other Third Sector organisations to help them achieve their mission and aims. Through funding we receive from Glasgow City Council we work with the sector to help groups build capacity, develop their own organisations and deliver social impact for individuals and communities across the city.
Our support is primarily delivered on a one-to-one basis by one of our specialist advisers and includes providing practical advice on anything from choosing an appropriate legal structure to developing a vision and mission and building business plans and financial plans to deliver that mission. Over the years we have worked with Glasgow organisations in sectors including Early Years, Childcare, Recycling & Reuse, Arts, Food Distribution, Mental Health, Sports Groups, Gender Groups, LGBT, Homelessness, Health and Wellbeing … the list goes on. We continually seek to develop our services to meet the needs of the sector and, particularly since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen increased demand for our digital support services including ecommerce, digital marketing and improving your online presence.
Another recent development has been the number of requests for support from organisations that are looking to take on or develop a community asset – a trend that has increased since Glasgow City Council launched the ‘People Make Glasgow Communities’ programme. This programme is designed to make it easier for community groups to access and run services from council buildings and CEIS and our partners are keen to support this initiative.
We recognise there are a range of support providers in Glasgow and CEIS has always sought to engage with likeminded organisations. We are keen to foster and build strong working relationships within the city and have worked closely with the Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS), the Third Sector Interface, for many years. GCVS provides complementary support to ours and together with other partners including Glasgow City Council, Volunteer Glasgow and Glasgow Life we deliver Glasgow Makes Connections. Through this collaboration we provide resources including free to access workshops: https://www.gcvs.org.uk/learning-and-development/capacity-building-resources/
