International Study Visit Programme to Brazil 14th – 22nd October 2012

A once in a lifetime experience with inspirational social enterprises, great networking, fascinating cultural settings and outstanding locations.

CEiS are co-ordinating a Learning and Development Programme incorporating Social Enterprise Visits in Bahia and The Social Enterprise World Forum, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This will be the sixth international programme following hugely successful visits to California in 2007, Berlin/Genoa in 2008, Australia in 2009, San Francisco/Vancouver and Seattle in 2010 and South Africa in 2011. These high paced programmes allow participants to interact with international social enterprises while spending quality contact time with policy makers, funders, support agencies and social enterprise practitioners from the UK.

The programme will:

  • Provide high quality enterprise visits to outstanding social enterprises
  • Provide opportunities to engage with local enterprise leaders and policy makers
  • Generate discussion in our group about the relevance and potential of the experience
  • Influence future investment, development programmes and policy initiatives in the UK
  • Include attendance at the Social Enterprise World Forum

The cost of the visit will be approximately £3999 – £4299. This figure will be confirmed in April, depending on group size, sponsorship and flight prices at the time of booking. Price includes international and domestic flights, accommodation, subsistence, conference registration, local transportation, host and event management fees.

The group will depart for Bahia, a tropical state in the North East of Brazil on the evening of 18th October. The 3 day programme in Bahia will visit some of the most inspirational social enterprises and projects in the area. Based in Salvador, the centre of Afro-Brazilian culture in Brazil, our group will spend time with cultural enterprises, a children’s parliament, sustainable tourism ventures and a recycling enterprise. Our themes will include enterprise start-up without financial assistance, using group experience to problem solve and engagement using co-production techniques.
